After winning two awards at last May's E3 for the beta version, Nokia will be releasing Rifts: Promise of Power on October 24. More background information can be found at Nokia's web site dedicated to the game, http://www.rifts-promiseofpower.com

In a recent announcement on his web site, jbfilms.com, producer Jerry Bruckheimer wrote that screenwriter David Franzoni (Gladiator, King Arthur) is working on the script for a live-action Rifts movie and that he did not want to disappoint fans of the Rifts game.

The publisher of the Rifts role-playing game, Palladium Books, has just released a revised and updated book entitled Rifts Ultimate Edition. This book, as well as many of Palladium's other role-playing game lines, will be offered to the book trade by specialty distributor, PSI, based in Stone Mountain, Georgia.

The Taylor, Michigan based company, Palladium Books, has been publishing role-playing game books for 24 years. Company President, Kevin Siembieda, is also its chief writer and art director. The multi-talented Siembieda started his company and wrote and illustrated most of the company's early titles. Now that his most popular creation, Rifts, is headed to the mass market, he is looking for other licensing opportunities.

Rifts is the story of a post-apocalyptic Earth where magic has returned as visible lines of energy called Rifts - tears in the fabric of space and time. The world of Rifts Earth is populated by two factions: one embracing magic and shunning technology, and the other using technology and shunning magic. With over 40 books in the series, the world of Rifts spans a transformed Earth that is now as strange or stranger than any alien world.
