Emerald launches first ever journal dedicated to the study of place management

[ClickPress, Tue Aug 21 2007] Emerald Group Publishing Limited is pleased to announce the launch of another exciting new journal in 2008. The Journal of Place Management and Development aims to further knowledge and best practice of the management, marketing and development of places worldwide. It will become the official publication of the Institute of Place Management (IPM), based at Manchester Metropolitan University Business School.
Truly multidisciplinary in scope, the journal will provide a central repository for research into this expanding topic, pulling together theory and practice in the field. Contributions will be included from all related fields, including property and real estate management, marketing, tourism and leisure, retailing, geography, public administration, sociology, planning and design.
The journal will be edited by Professor Cathy Parker, who is Development Director of the Institute of Place Management and also Visiting Professor of Retail and Place Management at the University of Arts in London. She says, “So many people are involved in making places better but it is only now that we are starting to develop theory and collect best practice examples to support them. As Editor, I am determined that this journal underpins the growth of this important industry and is accessible to both academics and practitioners in the field.”

Emerald is delighted to be working in partnership with the Institute of Place Management. As the official publication of the IPM, members will be able to access selected articles from across the Emerald database as well as being able to access the online version of the new journal when it is published next year.
