LONDON – 14 March, 2005 – Percussion® Software today announced that Symbian Ltd. has chosen Rhythmyx™ to support the upgrade of its corporate website. Following a competitive tender against other leading providers, Percussion’s Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solution is being deployed to manage content on www.symbian.com. Symbian will deploy Rhythmyx with Percussion’s Lyrix™, a content migration product that enables the company to reuse the content it had previously created in IBM’s Lotus Domino® applications throughout the new corporate site.

Symbian creates and licenses Symbian OS™, the open mobile phone operating system that powers today’s most popular smartphones. In a bid to enhance its online information, Symbian chose to review the underlying architecture of its corporate website. A flexible ECM solution was sought to facilitate this change. In choosing Percussion’s Rhythymx, Symbian will enjoy a host of advantages, most notably the ability to cost-effectively reuse and repurpose content across different publication channels.

"We wanted to provide controlled access to Symbian’s corporate website and its content across our entire organisation," said Paul Drake, technical architect, Symbian. "Rhythmyx meets our requirements for a solution capable of managing both static and dynamic content as well as using standards-based technology for compatibility with our heterogeneous IT infrastructure."

A robust enterprise content management solution, Rhythmyx manages Web content, documents, digital assets, portals and scanned images. The solution offers rich functionality ‘out-of-the-box,’ allowing customization to be focused on meeting specific needs, and easy, ongoing administration by IT staff. By delivering a range of pre-built application functionality through Rhythmyx FastForward for Web Content Management (WCM), Rhythmyx allows organizations to implement the functionality they need today whilst ensuring that they can meet tomorrow's needs with an extensible, standards-based architecture. With the industry's only De-Coupled Delivery™ architecture, Intelligent Relationships and Active Assembly™, Rhythmyx solves the key content management challenges of enabling true content reuse and cost-effective multi-channel delivery.

Joseph Wykes, Managing Director, European Operations, Percussion Software: "Symbian’s decision to choose Rhythymx is yet another endorsement of the capabilities and qualities of this award-winning ECM solution. For any company that enjoys high media, customer, partner, developer and investor interest it is imperative that their online information is expertly managed but also in a cost-effective way."

Symbian will deploy Rhythmyx alongside Percussion’s Lyrix, a content integration product enabling organisations to share Domino content with non-Domino applications. Lyrix preserves Symbian’s investment in Domino content by empowering its reuse across non-Domino enterprise applications. The deployment of Lyrix has allowed the reuse of both images and text which were used extensively throughout the previous website in most sections including FAQs and job vacancy postings.
