Co-produced by MEXICANAL and El Septimo Sello, La Historia de Unos Tigres (The History of Some Tigres), will follow the career and success of the legendary band Los Tigres del Norte in the U.S. Told by the legendary artists themselves, brothers Jorge, Hernán, Eduardo and Luis Hernández, as well as their cousin Oscar Lara, discuss their careers, the camaraderie with their fans at every concert, and their hits. Each weekend, viewers will have the opportunity to learn about the band’s songs, tours and dances while experiencing a Los Tigres del Norte show. The program will include testimonials from the band, its fans and the people closest to them.
The legacy of Los Tigres del Norte can be summed up with the following words: “The voice of the people.” With a successful career that spans more than three decades, tops millions of record sales, and includes extensive tours throughout the world, Los Tigres del Norte is the most successful norteño-style music group in the grupero movement. The depth of their music has even touched the educational system, inspiring the University of Chicago to create a course on corrido songs, based on Los Tigres del Norte.
The music of this beloved group consists of tales about life, love, and the struggle to survive in an imperfect world. They regularly touch on the subjects of illegal narcotics and immigration, but they also share stories of love and betrayal between the sexes. The band has modernized the music, infusing it with everything from bolero, cumbia, rock rhythms and waltzes to the sounds of machine guns integrated with the music.
