Freelance Writers Pair up for Visual Encounter to Include Filmmakers and Readers

Her company is branching out into new areas of creative expression that blend the written word with the filmmaker’s art. The result is the newly minted, Short Adaptation Film Contest.

Hosted as an online venture, the Short Adaptation Film Contest begs the question, how creative and engaging can young filmmakers be when given the task of adapting a fictional work to the screen?

Using Jamie Beckett’s 2006 debut novel, “Burritos and Gasoline,” (www.jamiebeckett.com) as a starting point, the contest aims to challenge young artists to choose a single scene or chapter from the book and adapt it to film. Both live action and animation submissions will be considered. The only restriction on style or content is the limitation of submitted material to no higher than an “R” rating.
