Freelance Writers Pair up for Visual Encounter to Include Filmmakers and Readers
[ClickPress, Sat Sep 15 2007] Yvonne Perry, the founder of Write On! Creative Writing Services has made the announcement official. Her company is branching out into new areas of creative expression that blend the written word with the filmmaker’s art. The result is the newly minted, Short Adaptation Film Contest.
Hosted as an online venture, the Short Adaptation Film Contest begs the question, how creative and engaging can young filmmakers be when given the task of adapting a fictional work to the screen?
Using Jamie Beckett’s 2006 debut novel, “Burritos and Gasoline,” (www.jamiebeckett.com) as a starting point, the contest aims to challenge young artists to choose a single scene or chapter from the book and adapt it to film. Both live action and animation submissions will be considered. The only restriction on style or content is the limitation of submitted material to no higher than an “R” rating.
“As a writer who was raised as an enthusiastic member of the television generation, I’m absolutely thrilled at the opportunity to see completely new and different interpretations of the story,” says Beckett of Winter Haven, Florida. “The fact that technology allows the pool of participants and audience members to be so wide and far reaching is nothing short of amazing.”
Write On! Creative Writing Services based in Nashville, Tennessee (www.yvonneperry.net) represents a team of highly qualified and talented writers and editors who provide their expertise in a wide range of subject matter to individuals needing help with writing projects, and to companies wanting to outsource their writing needs.
“I am pleased to be part of this endeavor,” says Ms. Perry. “Ever since I connected with Jamie Beckett online and read his book, I realized what a talented and giving person he is. This contest not only provides a great opportunity to let folks know about his fantastic book, it provides filmmakers of all skill levels to showcase their talent and earn a chance to win some money!”
