Pectel Eliminates Vehicle Fleet Emissions

The Pectel Group, one of the largest asbestos removal companies in the UK have announced today that they have offset their entire vehicles carbon emissions and donated their carbon footprint value to a tree planting project in Cornwall

[ClickPress, Thu Sep 20 2007] The Pectel Group chose an initiative whereby it was able to offset 100% of the carbon emissions produced by their fleet of vehicles across the UK.

The entire fleet's yearly mileage was calculated and a number of carbon balancing schemes were researched, eventually choosing ‘Tinners Forest’ near Roche, Cornwall and ideal location with new offices opening in Plymouth, this was the perfect place to offset their carbon emissions by supporting a tree planting project.

Tinners Forest is managed by co2balance.com they can calculate your carbon footprint for you and provide you with a completely ethical and transparent means of carbon offsetting for your business or as an individual.

Stephen Haim, Group Quality & Environmental Director, "In an ideal world we would like to reduce our company mileage but our business coverage is nationwide and would not be practical for financial and continuity reasons".

The Pectel Group see Tinners Forest as their first step in becoming totally carbon balanced and further offsetting is planned for 2007.

Tinners Forest
The land at Cleers, near Roche was acquired by co2balance in November 2006. The land had previously been sown with a typical pasture seed mix and had been managed in such a way as to produce a monoculture that did little for biodiversity. Afforestation of the land commenced in winter 2006/2007
The land and trees will remain in the ownership of co2balance and will be managed for the benefit of clients, the climate, the environment and the local community in perpetuity.
