AirRadio Ltd launches new wireless network at London City Airport

AirRadio Ltd has launched their 16th trunk radio network at London City Airport.

[ClickPress, Tue Sep 25 2007] AirRadio announces today the launch of their 16th trunk radio network, at London City Airport, as part of the on-going strategy for community trunk services at all major UK airports. AirRadio’s investment in London City highlights the growth potential of the airport and its importance to UK business and the forthcoming 2012 Olympics to be held in the local area.

AirRadio’s new trunk radio network delivers a single voice and data communications capability providing organisations at the airport the opportunity to replace the multiple systems currently in operation. In addition, the trunk network has wider coverage than existing systems, enabling airport workers to make calls across the airport campus; trunk networks are inherently more reliable and resilient than using public mobile networks.

By providing a community system the new network enables airport based staff to communicate with other airport users and introduces new services allowing radios to be programmed to make one-to-one, multi-group and broadcast calls.

Steven Inglis, Sales Director at AirRadio commented:

“This implementation of a community radio network at London City comes at an important time for the airport. Providing a vital transport link for the 2012 Olympics means it’s even more vital for our airport customers to benefit from greater call reliability, improved airport coverage, access to data applications and a full maintenance and service support.”

The London City network has been configured with a Tait base station and a Zetron trunking controller. Its first customer, Menzies Aviation, will be using Motorola hand-portable and Team Simoco vehicle radios. In addition to the improved range and functionality of the trunk service, Menzies will also have access to AirRadio’s full range of service support, including a 24-hour fault hotline, replacement handsets during servicing and full maintenance on the network’s infrastructure and user equipment.
