The gay and lesbian film industry has enjoyed something of a boom time recently and its dedicated festivals typically enjoy high turnouts of attendees. Venues where movies will be screened in Madrid this year include the Ataneo Cientifico, Artistico y Literario de Madrid, the Casa de America, the Lola Bar and the Auditorio Marcelino Camacho – all top quality, state of the art cinema and art venues.

Getting a Madrid city centre hotel close to the action will be more difficult than usual due to the increased demand for places to stay in the vicinity of the movie event. The 16th International Gay and Lesbian Film will commence on 27 October and run through to 6 November.

Movie fans both gay and straight should find something to interest them, with films being screened including A Marine Story, Children of God, Bloomington and Inertes.

Attendees and other tourists planning on being in Madrid through the duration of the film festival are advised to book their places to stay well ahead of arriving if they are planning on staying anywhere near the movie event's venues.

Lek Boonlert, marketing head of DirectRooms.com comments, "This film festival is set to be very well-attended, and so we are warning people that they must get their hotel bookings made plenty of time ahead of arriving."
