3M strengthens touchscreen offering for outdoor kiosks and ATMs

3M is to announce an extended temperature specification for its ClearTek II Capacitive Touch Screens at KioskCom Europe (stand 181)

[ClickPress, Wed Oct 17 2007] 3M, the diversified technology company, is to announce an extended temperature specification for its ClearTek II Capacitive Touch Screens at KioskCom Europe (stand 181), strengthening its appeal for outdoor applications. The company will be showing its complete portfolio of innovative touch screen and touch monitor products for the self-service kiosk and ATM markets at the show including the vandal-resistant MicroTouch ToughTouch II Capacitive Touch Screens, EX II capacitive electronics, the M170 17” LCD Touch Monitor and the CT150 15” LCD Touch Monitor.

Following stringent testing, 3M Touch Systems is now able to assure ClearTek II Capacitive Touch Screens for operation from +70°C to -40°C, a strong advantage for operators of outdoor kiosks and ATMs in colder climates.

Key features of ClearTek II include at least five times more wear-resistance and durability over competitive solutions, accurate touch performance and the highest levels of light transmission in the market place today. The screens are available in sizes from 6.4” to 32” diagonal.

Also on the stand are MicroTouch ToughTouch II Capacitive Touch Screens. These screens meet the requirements of unsupervised, high-threat environments, offering excellent wear and impact resistance as well as good light transmission to give a display that is both visually appealing and durable. The operating temperature extension to -40°C also applies to this technology.

EX II capacitive electronics
MicroTouch EX II Controllers for ToughTouch II and ClearTek II will also be shown. EX II controllers are based on the innovative EX II ASIC, designed to provide higher resolution touch coordinates, on-chip RAM, and a wider operating temperature range. They support serial and USB, offer expanded regulatory approvals, improved power modes, and enhanced ESD and EMI protection.

LCD touch monitors
In addition, 3M will demonstrate its MicroTouch M170 (17”) and CT150 (15”) LCD Touch Monitors that incorporate durable ClearTek II capacitive touch technology for robust, accurate and reliable touch display solutions. The M170 LCD touch monitor features maximum touch stability as well as a peripheral attachment system, locking mechanism, adjustable display angle, and various mounting options.

The CT150 LCD touch monitor for self-service kiosks offers a 500:1 contrast ratio, three customer installable bezel options, an array of designer-flexible mounting methods and a remote control on-screen-display adjustment module. The monitor can be powered using either the built-in power supply or an exterior power adapter.
