[ClickPress, Mon Oct 22 2007] BroadGroup Consulting sees sustained demand for data centres in the medium term and beyond. Although many European capitals, and particularly London, are suffering from a major challenge in meeting space demand, it views new opportunities arising from the regions and special economic development zones across EMEA, where special investment is being made to attract IT, Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity specialists and market entry by REITs Specialists.

Speaking in advance of the forthcoming Finance and Investment Forum – Investing in Data Centres, taking place at the Cass Business School in London (22nd November) Steve Wallage, managing director of BroadGroup Consulting, said that new investment is occurring both from regions offering the space to new build data centres, and the market entry by REITs specialists and other new ventures.

“Space is a critical issue but power is the main problem, and if regions and special economic zones across EMEA are able to offer cost effective solutions to both issues, they will present compelling cases to investors,” commented Mr Wallage.

“Regional development bodies and investment companies are seeking to benefit from this issue, as are specific geographic authorities which can increasingly boast strong Data Centre offerings. BroadGroup Consulting has helped many of these groups to benefit from this opportunity.”

BroadGroup Consulting now has an entire practice focused on the Data Centre market where it has seen an explosion of interest in the sector emanating from corporates, investors, providers and M&A advisors. The practice is advising all sectors on how best to maximize this opportunity, with many recent projects involving the development and support of business and financial plans.

“We have seen hundreds of millions of euros raised in the past few months alone in Europe and the US, which will be invested purely in the development of data centres,” commented Nicola Hayes, vice president at BroadGroup. “The Data Centre Investment forum is a very timely event which will bring together many of the players driving continued growth in the sector.”
