NGTC announces Midwest 2007 Rookie Driver of the Year and Enduro 100 Champion.

The National GT Club (NGTC) announced today it’s Midwest 2007 Rookie driver of the year.

[ClickPress, Wed Oct 31 2007] The National GT Club (NGTC) announced today it’s Midwest 2007 Rookie driver of the year. Randy Looke of Lake Zurich, IL., and his Destination Audio sponsored car #903 was named Rookie Driver of the Year for the NGTC Midwest region as well as being the winner of the Enduro 100 earlier this month. “This is a great day for Destination Audio and the Sound & Video race team,” said Randy, driver and car designer of the Destination Audio car #903. “We knew that we didn’t really have a chance in our GT2 group this year when we added the methanol system and it bumped us up a class, but we are very happy with our performance for 2007 and ecstatic for Destination Audio.”

Randy’s total points, while not the highest in 2007 NGTC’s record, had very impressive and exciting moments this year. Car #903 started in 11th on the starting grid and worked his way to finish in first place in late June at Putnam Park. While on the straight away at Blackhawk Farms Raceway in July, the Destination Audio car burst a supercharger hose resulting in a black flag and track shutdown for 30 minutes while car #903 was forced to end its day with a DNF. Finally, a great driving performance displayed at the Enduro 100 at Gingerman Raceway this month finalized with an overall 1st place finish.

“Man that was a great day of racing and we planned on and prepared for winning that race weeks before,” said Randy. “I really want to thank my crew guys Doug and Gene for all their help during the race. I also want to thank Darren Egan and Garry Tanner at Destination Audio. We got some great support from those guys this year and wanted to bring home something big for them and this was the race we were concentration for quite some time.”

Mickey Jones, CEO of NGTC said that the decision of choosing Randy for Rookie of the Year was difficult and well though out. “Randy displays great driving ability and skill every time he gets into the car.” “We had several rookies this year that proved themselves as great drivers as well, such as Peter Elles, Austin Carraeo and others, but Randy showed that he is not only a fantastic driver but also a top car developer.” “His personality is always up beat and he possesses a true ability to excite the spectators and other drivers at all the events he competes in.”
