[ClickPress, Wed Oct 31 2007] ImageTech Design, Inc., of Worcester, in an unprecedented coup walked away with two top awards at the recent Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association (CEDIA) awards banquet in Denver, CO announces company President John Brusa CPD. Brusa’s firm was honored for excellence in the design and installation of Dedicated Home Theaters. CEDIA’s Electronic Lifestyles® Designer Awards are considered the most prestigious awards program for the $10 billion residential electronic systems industry. Image Tech Design’s entries competed against 400 others world-wide.
Work submitted for the Electronic Lifestyles® Designer Awards is completed in consumer homes around the world in the following categories: home theaters, integrated homes, media rooms, hidden installations and more, with systems ranging $40,000 to over $3 million. ImageTech Design was honored with two Electronic Lifestyles® Designer Awards for the design and installation of sophisticated home theater systems. One located in Lincoln, MA and the second in Hopkinton, MA. Each project took the better part of a year from planning to implementation. These theaters were entered in the competitive Level V category for theaters in the $250.000 price rage.
The Gold Medal was garnered by Image Tech Design for the Best Technical Design in a large Home Theater for a project in Lincoln, MA. “When you mix the best equipment with the best designer, engineer and technicians you can’t help but produce winners,” said Brusa.
This elegant room was designed to seamlessly blend with the look and feel of the client’s modern, open, wood-accented home. Computer modeling using the “room within a room” technique and designing the acoustic treatments was a major part of the successful results. Brusa’s design solution even included designing light fixtures which were custom made by a local artisan utilizing the kiln-formed glass method.
The request for a large, very bright video picture was solved by the use of a Runco Xtream video projector. Concealing this “behemoth of a projector” in the ceiling and providing projection portal glass for an undistorted image added to the unobtrusive look of the theater. The Lexicon processor and Genelec loudspeakers made it easy for the rooms audio to comply with THX and HAA standards
The Silver Medal was garnered by Image Tech Design for the Best Technical Design in a large Home Theater for a project in Hopkinton, MA.
This exciting project was developed for a spec house being built by E.W Tarca Construction of Hopkinton, MA. The build out for this awarding Theater was masterfully performed by the E.W Tarca Construction team. The room was designed as a sunken room where you enter from the back and step down as you move to the front of the room; this provides an impressive sense of spaciousness and allows for the use of stadium seating insuring that every seat in the theater is a great seat.
The speakers and acoustic treatments hide behind the acoustically transparent stretched fabric walls. The custom millwork and columns enhance the elegance of this room. Even before the movie starts the room comes alive with the twinkle and glow of its fiber optic ceiling. The viewer can sit back and relax in the motorized leather seats, press the start button on the Crestron touch-screen controller and be ready to experience everything Hollywood has to offer.
Winners of the Electronic Lifestyles® Designer Awards were selected by two qualified panels which evaluated submissions based on both the technical merits and the design/aesthetics. The technical panel consisted of five CEDIA residential electronic systems contractor members and the design panel included members from the American Institute of Architects and the American Society of Interior Designers.
Commenting on the awards, Brusa said, “Being recognized by CEDIA and receiving two prestigious Electronic Lifestyles® Designer Awards from among this large field of competitors is a tremendous honor. It’s a great feeling being recognized and rewarded with special recognition by our peers… the nod from judges from the American Institute of Architects and the American Society of Interior Designers is some serious icing on the cake.”
