Hermosa Beach Restaurant Association Initiates "Call a Cab" Campaign
Getting patrons home safely is a priority
[ClickPress, Mon Nov 12 2007] The Hermosa Beach Restaurant Association (HBRA) announced the “Call A Cab Program” today. This transportation assistance program will provide safe and reliable transportation for restaurant patrons. The Hermosa Beach Restaurant Association initiated this program to help patrons get home without incident. The way the program works is a patron simply consults their server and informers them that he or she would like the participating restaurant to call them a taxi on their behalf. Signs are posted prominently in each restaurant, informing patrons about this service.
The HBRA plans on unveiling other similar programs in the coming months. The HBRA takes the position that in a quality community such as Hermosa Beach, we are all responsible for each other. The Hermosa Beach Restaurant Association is committed to ensuring patron and traffic safety. It is currently working with law enforcement officers, the Hermosa Beach Police Department, community activists and others within the city to help ensure the safety of its patrons and the community-at-large. This program is just the beginning of its consolidated effort to make Hermosa an even better city in which to do business and live.
“On occasion, a patron is at their limit before they enter our restaurants said Ron Newman, owner of Baja Sharkeez. Unknowingly, our servers can put them over the top while serving just one drink. This program will allow us to help those patrons get home safely.”
HBRA members adhere to strict guidelines and agree to uphold expected standards of conduct. Association members agree that it is difficult to effectively monitor every patron. However, a program like this can provide safety for restaurant patrons and the community.
About The Hermosa Beach Restaurant Association
The Hermosa Beach Restaurant Association (HBRA) was formed by a group of restaurateurs in the downtown Hermosa Beach area in January of 2007. The association formed with the approval and support of the Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau to exchange ideas and information and to proactively create solutions for the betterment of the Hermosa Beach community. The members realized the greater collaborative benefit of meeting on a monthly basis to discuss how all restaurants can contribute by giving back to their community.
The Hermosa Beach Restaurant Association (The HBRA) maintains a high-level of accountability for its members. Attendance to meetings is closely monitored and required. Members must adhere to the Association standards and will be required to contribute funds that will be used to promote philanthropic activities for the benefit of the community. Members must also contribute their share of funds to any project that has been deemed meritorious by The HBRA. Adhering to these standards is crucial to retaining membership.
The HBRA supports and enhances events such as: The Education Foundation, thee Art Walk, the Sidewalk Sale, the Surfer’s Walk of Fame, the Saint Patrick Day Parade, the Pancake Breakfast, Fiesta Hermosa, AVP Tournaments, Sunset Concerts at the Pier and Hermosa’s general popularity as a tourist destination. The members of the foundation are involved in numerous charitable events, donating both funds and meeting space for organizations that benefit the Hermosa Beach community as well as society in general. Participating restaurants include: Hennessey’s Tavern, Café Boogaloo, The Lighthouse Café, Baja Sharkeez, Fat Face Fenners, Zeppy’s Pizza, The Shore, Underground, Mediterraneo, Sangria, The Dragon Bar, The Bottle Inn, , Blue 32, Patrick Molloy’s, Pedone’s, Robert’s Liquor and Paisano’s.
