SMC Networks ships new 802.11n wireless routers with free Internet security software
New SMC BarricadeTM Draft 11n ADSL and broadband routers offer all-in-one net-working solution with free Panda Internet Security software
[ClickPress, Fri Nov 23 2007] SMC Networks (www.smc.com), a leading provider of LAN hardware and broadband connectivity devices, today announced the availability of its new SMC BarricadeTM N Pro Draft 11n Wireless 4-port ADSL2/2+ modem router (SMC7904WBRA-N) and N Draft wireless 4-port broadband router (SMCWBR14S-N) with three months free use of the Panda Internet Security 2007 protection software. Designed for both home and small office use, the routers are all-in-one IEEE802.11n draft v2.0 networking solutions for sharing high speed Internet connections.
The ADSL2 Barricade N Pro provides the high speed, coverage and bandwidth benefits of IEEE802.11n in a platform independent, multi-functional router. It combines a built-in ADSL2/2+ modem, firewall with Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) and a user friendly web-based management interface, in one convenient device.
Alongside the ADSL2 BarricadeTM N Pro, SMC Networks is adding the SMCWBR14S-N Draft 11n wireless 4-port broadband router to its Barri-cade range. It combines a 4-port 10/100 LAN switch to directly connect four computers or expand a network, a NAT firewall with Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI), Wi-Fi multimedia (WMM) and a user friendly web-based management inter-face, in one device.
With security being a key consideration for SOHO environments establishing wire-less networks, both Barricades N support the latest WPA and WPA2 wireless en-cryption standards, which prevent unauthorized access to wireless networks and ensure data is secure. Wireless security can also be set up easily using Wi-Fi Pro-tected SetupTM (WPS) that enables push button or PIN configuration.
With a built in IEEE802.11n draft v2.0 wireless access point, they both enable data transfer rates of up to 300Mbps, allowing bandwidth demanding applications to be used simultaneously - such as high-definition video and audio streaming, online gaming, VoIP calls and web surfing.
With three months Panda Internet Security Suite included, both routers benefit from a leading security package featuring online backup, antivirus, anti spyware, firewall, and anti spam.
Panda Internet Security 2007 has enhanced threat detection capacity with low-level scanning anti-rootkit technology. It also includes a system for blocking malicious URLs to prevent access to websites used for phishing or identity theft or which could download threats into computers. Compatible with Windows Vista, Panda Internet Security is one of the most highly featured security products available.
The ADSL2 Barricade N Pro is ideal for customers looking for a complete solu-tion with added security benefits. said James Harris, Product Manager, SMC Networks. We are also proud to be the first networking company in the market to offer an 11n broadband router and a free security add-on.
The SMC BarricadeTM N Wireless 4-port Broadband Router SMCWBR14S-N and the SMC BarricadeTM N Pro Draft 11n Wireless 4-port ADSL2/2+ modem router (SMC7904WBRA-N) are priced at 99.99 and 69.99 (MSRP) respectively and both come with three months Panda Internet Security Suite use.
