Music Row helps UK children's charity bid

[ClickPress, Sat Dec 01 2007] America's Country music industry is rallying to the aid of a group of children on the other side of the Atlantic.

And they've helped the children's charity song - "The Christmas Wish" into the top ten downloads to radio in the run up to the Holidays.

Singers, record labels, industry publicists and download services have all helped singer John D. Lewis make the kids dreams come true.

First to step up to the plate were Texas singer Christy Clayton and producer Greg Stricklin. Stricklin gave Lewis advice on how to record the kids while Christy's label, Desert Funk Records, supplied materials to help promote the song.

Next on board was Homer Joy, writer of "Streets of Bakersfield" and recent chart-topper with his "John Law" duet with Buck Owens.

Joy heard the song and immediately signed over the royalties on one of his songs to help the project - which is raising funds for a tiny school in England. And he helped Lewis create the final mix of the track.

Nashville publicity chief Chuck Thompson threw his hat into the ring with free promotional work and support from artist Lisa Dames and April Taylor.

And when they'd done their bit, Paul Loggins at AirplayAccess chipped in, helping to get the song out to mainstream radio while Shane Cody at RadioSubmit and the staff at NewMusicserver are helping get it out to smaller stations and internet radio.

Now the song is in the top ten downloads at Airplayaccess and rising.

John D. Lewis said today: "Every one of these people has done everything in their power to help make these kids' dreams come true.

"The children were thrilled when they heard themselves singing on local radio here. They could barely believe it when we told them the song was going to be played in the USA. Now we just need radio in the States to pick the song up and play it."

Written by Lewis, and his wife, Dawn Lewis, "The Christmas Wish" is available for radio download from AirplayAccess.com.

It's for sale on ITunes and Napster
