Sadiq Fadhil sets sights on Dubai International Rally

Veteran rally enthusiast to use vast experience to good effect

[ClickPress, Sun Dec 02 2007] UAE’s Sadiq Fadhil has set his sights on the Dubai International Rally organised by the Emirates Arabian Touring Club under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mayed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum from November 30th to December 1st.

A veteran with a track record of over 50 podium finishes spanning almost three decades, Fadhil is modest about his targets for the rally: “I hope to finish in the top 10 this year out of the 36 entries received from regional and international drivers,” he remarked.

Driving a souped up Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI Tommi Makinen, Mr. Fadhil describes his car as “one of the most awesome cars on the rallying circuit with superb traction, stability and sheer speed which is almost beyond comprehension,” Fadhil noted.

Fadhil is eagerly looking forward to putting his car through the rugged terrain that involves a run of 700 kilometres across two days. The rally involves six special stages in the Hatta area on Friday followed by another eight special stages in the Al Dhaid area on Saturday leading to a 4.30 PM finish on the Al Mamzar Corniche as motor enthusiasts from across the region take part in a unique event staged to mark the 36th Anniversary of the formation of the UAE.

This year’s event has all the makings of a Grand finale with a classic battle on the cards as Qataris, Kuwaitis, Jordanians, Saudi nationals stake their claims to the title along with UAE’s drivers thereby producing one of the best ever finishes to the FIA Middle East Championship this weekend.

On the eve of the race, Fadhil thanked the sponsors Krups for their outstanding support in making his participation at the event a possibility. “I am grateful to Krups for their support and cooperation and I hope to justify their faith in my abilities through my efforts in the rally.”
