The CNN Business Translator offers a new way for business travellers to learn and use foreign languages whilst abroad, providing phrase guides which can be downloaded and used on mobile phone handsets. It not only translates useful phrases such as ‘Where’s the hotel?’ or ‘can I book a table reservation?’ into text but also enables users to actually hear the translation pronounced perfectly through the speaker on the handset.

The CNN Business Translator is available in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. It is compatible with the most popular mobile phone handsets. The service is initially available on Orange in the UK and is to be made available for distribution via all leading networks.

Tony Pearce the chief executive officer of Player X, said, "Millions of people around the world now view their cellphone as an indispensable tool when travelling abroad. The CNN Business Translator puts entire languages at their fingertips and ensures that they have access to simple and professional phrase guides without carrying around multiple books and dictionaries. We are delighted to offer mobile phone owners all around the world the chance to make their holidays and business trips easier and more successful."

Mitch Lazar, Vice President of Wireless & Emerging Technology for Turner Broadcasting System International, Inc. said, "Mobile phones have established themselves as news and entertainment platforms, but have not yet achieved the same degree of recognition as practical business tools outside their inherent functionality. The CNN Business Translator is one of the first applications to provide phone owners with access to a comprehensive service comparable to that found on the Internet, but in a convenient, accessible wireless form. With business travellers at the core of CNN’s target audience, we are pleased that a service has been developed for mobile devices that makes life easier for the business traveller on the road."

CNN Business Translator was developed for Player X by Touchlink Mobile a specialist mobile content creator based in the United Kingdom and the Ukraine.
