Norfolk's Budding 'Lewis Hamilton' wins sponsorship deal

Influx to sponsor Jacques Morley

[ClickPress, Wed Dec 19 2007] Norfolk's very own Lewis Hamilton, Jacques Morley of Marham near King's Lynn, is currently cutting his teeth on the track, tearing up karting circuits across the UK, learning overtaking skills, putting in ever-faster lap times and generally making his mother have kittens. At ten, Jacques is building a reputation in motor sport and now his profile has attracted the attention of a sponsor. For the rest of the season he's supported by Influx, the glossy motoring magazine published by Adrian Flux Insurance Services of East Winch.

Karting is where Lewis Hamilton began too and, not surprisingly, he's a big hero for Jacques. Like Hamilton, Jacques started out at the MSA (Motor Sport Association) track at Rye House. In 2008 he's heading for the 'stars of tomorrow' league, now known as the MSA British Cadet's Championship, where Hamilton honed his talent.

"He's a really committed, dedicated boy and we're delighted to give him some support," says Gerry Bucke of Flux. "Influx is all about people who are passionate about their motoring and Jacques certainly fits the bill."

Despite his youth, and the fact that he's in a lightweight kart riding just inches above the ground, Jacques regularly drives at speeds in excess of 50mph. So it's not surprising that mum and dad get a bit anxious. "We certainly get a big buzz of adrenalin," admits mum Claudia Morley. ''But the MSA keep things very well organised and there's never any serious incidents.

"The Influx sponsorship is a huge boost - not just for the money, which is very welcome of course, but also because having a big name sponsor gives Jacques credibility in the sport," she adds. "It puts us on the next level."

It seems that Jacques has shown a natural talent for motorsport, even from a very young age. ''As a baby he caused mayhem in his walker, spinning, charging and zigzagging all over the place. It was only when we saw how relatively sedate other kids were that we realised what a maniac he was - and it's been the same ever since.

"Give him some wheels and he'll make them burn!"

Although he's already been compared to Lewis Hamilton, if you ask Jacques who his real hero is he leaps back a generation - Michael Schumacher. Like the former champion, Jacques is a man of few words but utter determination. Asked where he's going, he would say only "To the top - Formula One!"
