Plans for more new builds in West Midlands say National Homebuyers

Homeowners in the West Midlands may wish to seek a fast property sale after the National Housing and Planning Advice Unit (NHPAU) suggested that 400,000 more homes should be built in the region.

The NHPAU has stepped in because it believes affordability in the region is an issue.

It is bad news for homeowners as an increased number of new homes will inevitably bring house prices down - potentially leading to more people looking to make a quick property sale.

Commenting on events, the lord's minister for communities and local government, Baroness Andrews, said: "We do not wish to fundamentally question the Spatial Strategy for the region, but we are concerned that the very rigid application of some of the principles may be unnecessarily constraining longer-term development.

"The aim will be to provide the Examination Panel with options that could deliver housing numbers which will start to impact on affordability whilst maintaining as many of the principles of the Spatial Strategy as possible," she continued.
