Britain is 3rd most expensive nation say National Homebuyers

Britain is the third most expensive country to live in, potentially leading to many people experiencing financial difficulties, according to new research by HSBC.

[ClickPress, Fri Jan 11 2008] The firm has published research which shows that only Norway and France are more expensive.

The study looked the length of time the average Briton's annual expenditure would last in other countries and found that the vast majority of nations have a cheaper cost of living.

It is unsurprising then that so many Britons, particularly those in financial difficulties move abroad in order to get by.

"Britons who live abroad, especially those who do so for only a few months each year, are often not willing to compromise on their standard of living," said Enrique Roche from HSBC.

"This research gives great insight into those countries that will allow your cash to stretch the furthest and in turn, those countries that may shrink it," he continued.

Fast property sale expert Julian King adds, "Barclays have suggested that 1 in 5 retirees will be moving abroad in the coming five years.

"It's hardly surprising as owning and even selling a property in the UK has become unecessarily costly, if you consider paying for Hips, falling property prices, a lack of buyers and the large delays in marketing each property.

"Homeowners looking to move abroad should consider a guaranteed quick property sale, rather than run the risk of the property chain breaking or buyers pulling out".
