The East Is Set To Become The Technology Driver Of The 21ST Century
Malaysia’s MSC initiative key to reshaping the global IT industry over the coming decades, according to MDeC top technology executive
[ClickPress, Mon Jan 14 2008] The technology sector is set to undergo a rapid change over the coming years with companies based in the East set to take the lead in setting how the industry innovates, claimed a senior manager at the Malaysian Development Corporation (MDeC) today during a panel event with local and regional industry leaders.
Speaking at the inaugural Malaysia Services Exhibition (MSE) 2008, VP Marketing and Branding Division, MDeC, Niran Noor explained how solutions developed in regions of the world such as South East Asia would be able to better deliver the simplicity and ease of use that companies and businesses in emerging markets are looking for.
“In countries such as India and China, in the countries that are fuelling the world’s economy, there’s a need for technology that suits their requirements and provides value. They’re going to be the new engines of the global market and companies here in Malaysia and the rest of the East are set to capitalize on our competitiveness, innovation, and our talent to deliver solutions for this new world,” said Noor.
With forecasts predicting that eastern economies such as those in South East Asia will experience 30 to 40 percent faster growth than current developed markets, technology companies based in Malaysia will be able to cater to an estimated market of more than 800 million middle class consumers. With end to end solutions, the next technology hubs will be those of Kuala Lumpur and Cyberjaya, believes Noor.
Joined by some of Malaysia’s leading technology firms from MSC Malaysia, including BriteSoft, CWORKS, Scan Associates, Microlink, and XYBASE, MSE 2008 is showcasing the best of what the East has to offer in terms of software development and service solutions for partnerships with solution providers based in the Middle East.
Viewed as one of the best locations worldwide for innovation and education by multinational corporations for its competitiveness in the global arena, Malaysia was recently ranked in the top three of the services and outsourcing industry worldwide by a number of consultancy firms, including AT Kearney and Frost and Sullivan.
“The Middle East in general and countries such as the UAE and Saudi Arabia in particular, are looking towards the East and companies in Malaysia for their technology and business needs. Participation here at MSE 2008 will continue what we’ve been building towards over the past few years, in highlighting the strengths of our MSC status companies as they look to establish themselves in the Middle East region. Malaysia offers the four c’s – competitive, comprehensive, cutting edge and credible solutions from the heart of Asia. We look forward to presenting potential partners and customers with the latest technology, services and products that Malaysia has to offer here at MSE 2008,” Noor concluded.
