Weather damage bill grows say National Homebuyers

Homeowners across the UK are counting the cost of recent weather damage and some may be considering a fast property sale.

[ClickPress, Mon Jan 28 2008] Abbey has revealed that the average cost of weather-related damage is £2,699, with five per cent of the damage usually happening inside the house.

The bank has also highlighted that 11 per cent of all UK homes have been damaged by the weather in the last five years.

The main concern for many people in the UK is that damaging weather appears to be becoming a more regular occurrence and those living in high-risk areas may wish to seek a fast property sale in order to avoid future disasters.

"Bad weather damage is a costly inconvenience and for some people, especially in flood areas, it is becoming a yearly nightmare," said Lloyd Wilson, head of Abbey home insurance product development.

"Our research shows that the risk of damage to our homes is an ever-increasing reality and we need to be prepared for it."

Cash for homes property expert Julian King says, "Homeowners worried about the sale of their property because of proximity to flood planes or previous structural damage are guaranteed a buyer with National Homebuyers.

Mr King is a director of National Homebuyers which is also the UK's leading Sell and Rent Back provider, where the homeowner sells their property for cash, but rents back for an agreed period of time and rental fee.
