Discovery discovered: Sculptures on Mars

Even in the Age of Internet, and of the all knowing News Media, the things that are not of immediate practical importance, can be invisible in the plain view.

[ClickPress, Thu Feb 07 2008] How do we discover the discoveries?

The most fundamental of discoveries initially are so foreign and strange to the common sense, even to common sense in the ivory towers of science, that new can not be easily accepted. It is blacked out in the plain view for a while, until some luck brings the matter to our attention.

Today, Life on Mars is still in the limbo, discovered but not accepted yet.

The lesson is that after a discovery is made, each of us has to discover it for himself. Later we wonder, how we were so blind - as things look obvious and natural in the rear view.

The actual reason why we are so reluctant to accept the discovery of the Martian sculpture - of Martian ancient Civilization - was spelled out in the Edge magazine by Kenneth Ford, former director of American Institute of Physics.

"Suppose Mars will be found to have harbored life and harbors life no more. If this proves to be the case, it will be an extraordinarily sobering discovery for humankind, even more so than the view of our fragile blue ball from the Moon, even more so than our removal from the center of the universe by Copernicus, Galileo, and Newton — perhaps even more so than the discovery of life elsewhere in the galaxy."

"The long quest for life on Mars" by Dr Chris Lintott, was published recently at http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/7228640.stm
But, he is missing something important.

About a year ago, NY magazine "Woman's World" has published an article about sculptures on Mars. This article can be seen at http://marslife.us/press/WHAT_ABOUT_LIFE_ON_MARS.pdf

Dr. Lintott quite probably does not know about this publication, since the magazine does not maintain Web presence.

The sculptures are of human size, unlike the two inch tall "Man on Mars" discussed by Lintott. They are seen is great detail, convincing of their artificial nature, and are reminiscent of the art of ancient civilizations of Earth.

If we are confident about ourselves, we must and can face the reality of anything and everything. We are all mortal, and we better appreciate life because of that. The ancient Civilization of Mars is our sister Civilization, and wil contribute its Art and History to ours. The fact that Civilizations disappear, is bound to help us to better appreciate our Civilization and our culture.
