Young unwilling to learn state National Homebuyers
Children need to be educated about finances or they will face financial difficulties in the future but the whole process may be a waste of time.
[ClickPress, Mon Feb 18 2008] That is according to Ark Financial Planning, which said that it would like to see children educated in this way but doubts whether the children will be interested enough to learn.
Phil Perry, spokesman for the firm, pointed out that even if there was the opportunity for children to learn about money they may still get into financial difficulties as they advice may be ignored.
"Where it could fall down is that children of 16 would not necessarily be interested in taking that kind of advice. It is money and it brings up the pound signs. It's what they can do with it, as opposed to what it may do for them," he said.
"In terms of educating young people about what they should or shouldn't be doing with it, it is a good idea, the question is how open they would be to taking advice.
"Children of 16 are still young and some are still immature and how they would interpret this information at that age, I don't know," continued Mr Perry.
Fast property sale expert Julian King adds, "Homeowners currently facing financial difficulty should consider a fast property sale to avoid getting into further debt or having their property repossessed.
"We assist hundreds of people each year who are about to have their property taken from them. In a falling market, this means that often the proceeds from the sale of the property by the bank will not suffice to settle all arrears.
"Hundreds of people opt for the Sell and Rent Back mortgage rescue solution allowing the homeowner access to the cash tied up in their property while being able to remain living in their home".
Mr King is a director of National Homebuyers and is also a founder member of APBA, the Approved Property Buyers Association, which is calling for government regulation of the Quick Property Sale and Sell and Rent Back industries.
