Prices to drop by over six per cent says National Homebuyers
Many homeowners may be tempted to make a fast property sale as a new poll suggests that house prices are set to fall throughout 2008.
[ClickPress, Mon Feb 18 2008] Headline Property has published a survey of journalists, which revealed that the majority expect property prices to carry on dropping.
A total of 79 per cent of those questioned said that they anticipate seeing the average property lose value throughout the year.
Just 21 per cent expect prices to stay the same or rise, with the findings likely to lead to more people seeking a fast property sale.
Industry figures were slightly less pessimistic but even they were not convincing in their belief that house prices will not drop.
A significant 46 per cent of those questioned said that they expect house prices to fall this year.
Further to this, the average price drop anticipated by industry figures was between three and four per cent.
When the two sets of opinions are combined, it was predicted that the average UK property will lose 6.09 per cent of its value in the next 12 months.
Quick house sale expert Julian King comments, "As prices fall, we expect a sizeable increase in the number of enquiries from people looking for a quick property sale.
"The delays and uncertainties of selling on the open market, along with the ever falling property prices mean we anticipate mooe people seeking a quick sale".
