National Homebuyers: 'Pay woe for many'

Many Britons face financial difficulties because the cost of living is rising faster than their wages.

[ClickPress, Mon Feb 18 2008] That is according to Conservative shadow secretary to the Treasury Philip Hammond, who attacked Gordon Brown over his economic policy.

It comes after the Office for National Statistics revealed that the cost of living outstripped pay inflation for the second year running.

This, said Mr Hammond, has left many people facing serious financial difficulties.

"These figures confirm what ordinary people already feel in their wallets. Over the last two years, stealth taxes and soaring prices have outstripped pay rises, leaving people worse off," he commented.

"The legacy of Gordon Brown's economic incompetence is falling take-home pay and falling real living standards.

"That's a kick in the teeth to Britain's hard-working families," continued Mr Hammond.

He recently attacked mortgage lenders for their failure to pass on recent cuts to the base rate of interest to borrowers.

Fast property sale expert Julian King adds, "The cost of owning a property is increasing as its value is spiralling downward.

"People looking to sell their home should consider a fast property sale, as selling homes on the open market increases in inefficiency, cost and uncertainty.

"Add the cost of a Hips pack, the 2 in 3 chance of the chain collapsing and the fact that properties are going down in value by up to £50 a day in some areas means for many this could lead to repossession or at least futher financial difficulty".

Mr King is a director of National Homebuyers, the UK's leading quick property sale firm. The company does not require the vendor to have a Hips pack in place and completes at a timescale to suit the vendor.
