MED will be presenting two papers and exhibiting at this year’s Society for Information Display Mid-Europe Chapter Spring Meeting being held 13-14th March 2008 in Germany. Both presentations will take place the afternoon of Friday 14th March.

Professor Ian Underwood FRSE, chief scientific adviser and co-founder of MicroEmissive Displays will be presenting a paper titled, HYPOLED – High-Performance OLED Microdisplays for see-thorough mobile multimedia applications. The draft specifications for the device platform, the personal display system and the micro-projection unit will be described and the initial objectives and timescales discussed.

Chris Yates, Senior Research Scientist, MicroEmissive Displays will also be presenting a paper looking at the limitations of the conventional "lifetime" metric when applied to OLED displays and the development of a real-world equivalent metric. This paper will discuss the initial thoughts on bringing together device performance and application requirements in order to develop a "fit-for-purpose" evaluation for OLED displays in specific applications.

The Society for Information Display Mid-Europe Chapter Spring Meeting 2008 is being held at the Abbe Center, Beutenberg Campus, Jena, in Germany. Meetings are held twice-yearly in the Spring and Autumn attracting many European display professionals to the technical and scientific presentations. This meeting will focus on the different aspects of microdisplays and their applications, covering basic technology as well as optical components and systems for multimedia applications and niche markets.
