Lanson International sign exclusive deal with Jockey Club Racecourses

[ClickPress, Thu Feb 28 2008] Lanson International, the premium Champagne house, has signed an exclusive sponsorship agreement with Jockey Club Racecourses, it was announced today.

The move will achieve significant profiling for Lanson; joining their prestigious portfolio of sporting and arts patronage. The sponsorship is for three years and will see Lanson as the key Champagne at some of the racing worlds most celebrated events, including the Cheltenham Gold Cup, Epsom Derby and the Grand National.

John Maxse, Director of Communications at The Jockey Club said: "We are excited about working with Lanson as the official Champagne to our fourteen racecourses. Jockey Club Racecourses stage a range of events that attract and enthrall both serious followers and enthusiastic racegoers. Next week sees one of the highlights of the year with the Cheltenham Festival, featuring the thrilling clash between jump racing’s two star horses, Kauto Star and Denman, in Friday’s totesport Gold Cup. With Lanson on board there will be an added sparkle.”

Paul Beavis, Managing Director of Lanson International added: "A day at the races gives everyone a great deal of pleasure, and we believe at Lanson that support of key sporting and art events is key to our commercial strategy; firmly building an association between Lanson and the good things in life. Amongst our plans are signature occasions, such as the Ladies Day at Newmarket, with dedicated activity and a number of prizes to be won.
The partnership with Jockey Club Racecourses takes us to the heart of the racing world, and we see it as being extremely beneficial for both us as sponsors and to the Club”.

Lanson International
Founded in 1760, Champagne Lanson is one of the oldest and most prestigious Houses in Champagne. A combination of centuries of experience and modern techniques ensures their unique and enduring style of winemaking remains unsurpassed.
The collection comprises four classic Lanson cuvees - Black Label, Ivory Label, Rose Label, and Gold Label each with its own distinctive character. Top of the range are a further the trio called Noble Cuvée which are sourced only from Grand Cru vineyards.
A remarkable practice handed down across the generations, see the blocking of malo-lactic fermentation in their winemaking which produces consistently fresh, powerful styles with a longevity and complexity that ensures they can be cellared or enjoyed young.

Jockey Club Racecourses

Jockey Club Racecourses is the largest racecourse group in the UK and is responsible for the operation of a diverse portfolio of 14 tracks. Jockey Club Racecourses stage many of the country’s most iconic races and events, including the Cheltenham Festival, the Grand National at Aintree, the 1000 and 2000 Guineas at Newmarket and the Derby at Epsom.

The Jockey Club’s trustee ownership of the group ensures that there is no distribution of profits to shareholders. Instead, profits are re-invested in the sport, primarily on upgrading facilities and prize money.
