[ClickPress, Fri Feb 29 2008] Carbon Footprint Ltd signs agreement with Alison Gannett, a world champion extreme skier and environmental consultant, to help raise the awareness of climate change and Carbon Footprint Ltd in the USA.

Alison Gannett has dedicated the last 20 years of her life to saving the snow and planet from the devastating effects of global warming. Alison has lead ski expeditions to document global warming in Bolivia, Argentina, Bhutan, India, South Africa, Pakistan, France, Switzerland, Canada and the US. She is a global cooling presenter and trainer for Al Gore's “The Climate Project”, was nominated by Outside Magazine as one of 23 Green-All-Stars of 2007 (alongside Willie Nelson and Leonardo DiCaprio), and is the founding president of two non-profits – The Office for Resource Efficiency - http://www.resourceefficiency.org/ and The Save Our Snow Foundation - http://www.saveoursnowfoundation.org/.

John Buckley, Managing Director of Carbon Footprint Ltd said, “It is fantastic to have a high profile celebrity working with us to increase the awareness of climate change and how we all need to be reducing our carbon footprint’s to minimise our impact on the environment”

The www.carbonfootprint.com web site is already very popular in the United States. The carbon footprint calculator is one of the few on the Internet, which allows the visitor to select the state where they live – making it also one of the most accurate for US residents.

Alison Gannett, remarked, “It is fantastic to have been appointed the spokes person for Carbon Footprint in the US. The carbonfootprint.com calculator is certainly one of the best on the Internet and we need to get everyone on the planet using it and taking responsibility for their own carbon emissions.”

Buckley added, “Alison is more than just an ambassador for us, she is an excellent role model who practices what she preaches. Alison lives in a straw bale solar home and drives a specially converted SUV that gets over 100mpg. Using carbonfootprint.com she has shown how to reduce her carbon footprint by 50%.”

The average carbon footprint for a person living in the USA is currently about 20 tonnes of CO2 per person per year, which is one of the highest in the world. The world average is 4 tonnes and that needs to reduce to about 2 tonnes of CO2 per person to help limit the impact of global warming.
