[ClickPress, Wed Mar 05 2008] In a bold move to take a significant share of the world crane market, Street Crane Company, based in Derbyshire, are launching a new generation of mid-range hoists. The ZX6 and ZX8 Series hoists will set new standards for safety, reliability and performance for engineers and industry around the world.
Commenting on the launch, managing director Andrew Pimblett explained, “This is the most significant product launch in out 60 year history. Substantial investment has been made in design and engineering to produce a family of advanced hoists, ranging from zero to 25 tonnes, that can take on the best in the world. For once we also expect currency movements this year to be in our favour making the hoists even more attractive to our overseas customers.”
Street Crane is known in the UK engineering sector as a supplier of complete factory cranes and supplies every branch of industry from base metal production, through stockholding, and into manufacturing. Overseas they operate in partnership with other crane makers who produce structures locally, but use Street Crane hoists and other high value component. The new hoists have been engineered to be produced in high volume for this world market.
In parallel with the start of production at Street Crane’s Derbyshire factory, licence holders Nanjing Hoisting Machinery General Works Company (NHM), will also start-up manufacture of ZX6 and ZX8 hoists for the Chinese home market. Street Crane will supply other trade partners throughout the world with hoists from their Derbyshire factory.
The new hoists are the product of a radical design process, using 3D modelling in virtual reality so hoists also have 30 percent fewer components than their predecessors. The new hoists are also more compact for ease of shipping and are quicker to assemble. When assembled their compact dimensions make them ideal for use in modern low-headroom workshops.
Long term reliability has been proven by an intensive programme of accelerated life tests. This compressed the effect of many years operation into a few weeks 24/7 operation. With full loads, lift and fall cycles were followed with speed changes and pauses so that mechanisms were severely challenged. Advanced vibration analysis was also undertaken to isolate and optimise the performance of each individual component.
“We are confident that we have a product that is based on the best available engineering technology and it will outperform our competitors. Working with our worldwide network of crane builders and we can take on and win against multinational competition,” concluded Andrew Pimblett.
