LKCMedicine, a joint medical school by Imperial College London and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore is being set up to meet the expected rise in the healthcare demands of a growing and ageing Singapore population. It will augment Singapore’s healthcare manpower by producing top-quality doctors and medical leaders who are attuned to the needs of patients and of the Singapore community and will also introduce innovations to medical education, providing more opportunities for Singaporeans to pursue a high-quality medical degree locally.

Throughout their medical training, LKCMedicine students will develop strong foundations in the scientific basis of medicine. Much of this will be learned through Team-Based Learning (TBL) sessions, and faculty in both London and Singapore are working hard to develop a variety of educational materials for TBL. Leveraging on the extensive use of iPads at the School, ReallyManaging Assessment, branded for LKCMedicine as ‘iFolio’, will be used as an ePortfolio to support and track student learning activities, and deliver and report on assessment in clinical settings;

"Here, students will be taught by world-class experts in a modern environment that focuses on collaborative learning, a broad use of simulation, and learning supported by materials and applications on their iPads," says Prof Martyn R Partridge, Senior Vice Dean of LKCMedicine.

"The iPad, which will be an important teaching and learning tool, will also draw on new technologies to help students learn their curriculum wherever they are."
ReallyManaging Assessment, already in use in key major medical education establishments in the UK, represents an award winning, innovative approach to the workflow of assessment, including full use of native apps on Apple and, soon, Android for online and offline use, which is increasingly critical in any internet-unfriendly work based environment. It is used for observational and self-assessment, together with clinical knowledge tests; and features a tutor/student feedback workflow for collaborative mentoring, with all achievements, feedback and notes being recorded into an ePortfolio progress file.

Peter Thompson, CEO at MyKnowledgeMap, said:
"We are delighted and honoured to become a key supplier to LKCMedicine. Both of us are innovators in our field and already our partnership is bringing new ideas and suggestions which we will build into our product later this year and in time for the first intake."
