DTCM Woos Businessmen & Investors At ‘UAE In India’ Trade Show

50% Growth In Non-Oil Trade Between Dubai & India In 2004

[ClickPress, Thu Dec 08 2005] The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has teamed up with the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) and Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority (JAFZA) to represent Dubai at the third edition of the 'UAE in India' trade show that started at the Nehru Centre in Mumbai on Wednesday (December 7) and continues until December 10.

The show which attracted over 45 leading UAE firms and more than 11,271 business visitors in 2004, is set to expand its scope this year with forays into the IT and finance sector in which India is a major global player.

The Dubai stand measuring 48 square meters is aimed at highlighting Dubai's rapidly expanding business and investment opportunities, free zone facilities and tax-free environment, in an attempt to woo larger number of investors.

DTCM Officer Overseas Promotions, Mr. Khalid bin Nassar is representing the department at the exhibition.

The DTCM considers India as a very important market with tremendous growth potential. The Dubai-India relations have been historically strong and shown signs of fast growth due to the keenness cooperation on both the sides and the expansion of economies of both. India has remained one of the largest trading partners of Dubai and the two-way trade has been posting impressive year-on-year growth.

The DTCM has been conducting a number of road shows, exhibitions and workshops on its own in key cities of India every year in addition to joining the initiatives of other government organizations in tapping the Indian markets.

The total non-oil trade between the UAE and India has reached US$ 7 billion by March 31, 2004, making a 50 per cent growth over the previous year while Indian exports to the UAE reached US$ 5.1 billion during the same period.

The total number of flights operating between the UAE and India saw an increase of 13.9 per cent in 2004 increasing from 280 to 319 between 2003 and 2004. The exhibition is being supported by the Indian Business and Professional Council. The technical organiser of the 'UAE Trade Exhibition in India' is International Expo-Consults (IEC), a division of the Falaknaz Group.
