Hillarys recognised for outstanding growth in the Sunday times Deloitte buyout track 100

[ClickPress, Thu Apr 03 2008] NOTTINGHAM based Hillarys has gained national recognition for its rapid growth by being named in the latest The Sunday Times Deloitte Buyout Track 100 league table, published for the second year this weekend. It’s the only company in Nottinghamshire to make it onto the list and ranks 93rd nationally.

The league table recognises the UK’s 100 private equity-backed companies in order of the fastest-growing over the last two years. In 2007, Hillarys chief executive John Risman led a £225m buyout, backed by European Capital. Profits rose 24% a year from £13.9m in 2005 to £21.4m in 2007.

Hillarys is the largest supplier of blinds and shutters in Britain with more than a quarter of the domestic made-to-measure blinds market. From its bases at Nottingham and Washington, Tyne & Wear, it makes and fits 30,000 blinds each week using self-employed advisers who visit customers' homes.

The company has developed an online service, web-blinds.com, and sales of shutters and awnings. It also sells to trade customers under the brand name Arena and to non-residential commercial customers through a separate division, Hcd.

Mr Risman said that the listing is a reflection of the successful expansion of the business into new channels and products and the hard work put in to continue to provide an excellent service to its customers.

“We’re delighted to be recognised for our excellent performance, which is an indication of our unique position in the market,” said Mr Risman. “We look forward to entering the next stage of our development as we continue to invest in the future growth of the company.”
