Full Frame Documentary Film Festival Announces Festival Award Winners

The Full Frame Documentary Film Festival (www.fullframefest.org) has announced the 2008 Festival award recipients. Winners are determined by juries consisting of members of the national filmmaking community. The 2008 awards were presented to the following films:

• Anne Dellinger Grand Jury Award – "Trouble the Water"
o Special Jury Award – "Man on Wire"
• Full Frame Jury Award for Best Short – "City of Cranes"
• Full Frame Audience Award – "Man on Wire"
• Center for Documentary Studies Filmmaker Award – "Lioness"
o Honorable Mention – Up the Yangtze
• The Charles E. Guggenheim Emerging Artist Award – "In A Dream"
• Full Frame Inspiration Award – "At the Death House Door"
• Full Frame President’s Award – "Summerchild"
• Full Frame Spectrum Award – "The Betrayal (Nerakhoon)"
o Honorable Mention – Up the Yangtze"
• Full Frame Women In Leadership Award – "Taking Root: The Vision of Wangari Maathai"
• Full Frame/Working Films Award – "Please Vote for Me" and "Trouble the Water"
• The Kathleen Bryan Edwards Award for Human Rights – "Trouble the Water"

Using larger venues, as well as new ticketing and logistics systems, the 11th annual Festival generated more attendees per screening on average than last year. Final ticketing numbers will not be available until next week, but Full Frame projects that 29,000 tickets were distributed, an increase from 2007, when the Festival issued 26,895 tickets.

The Full Frame Documentary Film Festival was held April 3-6 in downtown Durham. Recognized as the premier documentary film festival in the United States by both The New York Times and indieWIRE, Full Frame is an arena for documentary filmmakers to showcase their work theatrically in an environment that stimulates conversation and community between filmmakers, industry executives and the general public.
