[ClickPress, Mon Dec 12 2005] A Sense of Wonder: Ecological Literacy and the Facts of Life received the Crystal Award of Excellence by the International Communicator Awards, a nationally recognized honor. The show is one of thirteen programs in the fifth annual Bioneers national and international radio series, the Bioneers: Revolution from the Heart of Nature. A second program, Connecting the Drops, received the Crystal Award of Distinction. The “Bioneers” series is heard in over 200 cities, with total U.S. market coverage of over 52 million listeners. It is also heard throughout Australia on the Australian Broadcasting Company. The series previously won both the Crystal Award of Excellence and Award of Distinction, among other awards.
The “Bioneers” series portrays cutting-edge solutions and leading innovators with practical approaches to major environmental and social challenges. It draws on audio materials from the annual Bioneers Conference in San Rafael, California, which annually brings together over 3,000 social and scientific pathfinders who are working with nature to heal nature.
The Communicator Awards is an international awards program founded by communications professionals to recognize excellence in the communications field. The Award of Excellence is given to those entries whose ability to communicate puts them among the best in the field. The Award of Distinction is presented for projects that exceed industry standards in quality and excellence.

The series’ executive producer and co-writer Kenny Ausubel is an award-winning writer, filmmaker and social entrepreneur, and also the founder and co-executive director of Bioneers. The co-writer and narrator is Neil Harvey, and the managing producer is Stephanie Welch.
Bioneers: Revolution from the Heart of Nature programming received a New York Festivals’ WorldMedal® in 2002 and 2003 and was a Finalist in 2004 and 2005. The series achieved Finalist for the United Nations Department of Public Information Award for radio programming excellence in 2003.
