Advertising of the main players, and Coca-Cola HBC Bulgaria AD in particular, helped to create an image of modern products, which also have healthy features because they contain tea. Consumers were not deterred by the fact that some of the RTD tea brands also contain sugar and artificial colour and flavour.

Competitive Landscape

In 2013, the top three companies accounted for 75% combined off-trade value share and the main players, accounting for the majority of sales are just 11 in number. The reason is that the category is strongly dominated by advertising and brand image - priorities of the multinational companies. While the multinational players have recognised and supported brands, local companies compete on price. Private label is also increasing its presence and in 2013 accounted for 2% off-trade value share.
