House prices down in April says National Homebuyers

House prices fell in April, potentially leading to a rise in the number of people seeking a fast property sale.

[ClickPress, Thu Apr 24 2008] Rightmove has published its House Price Index for the month, showing that a typical property in England and Wales lost 0.1 per cent of its value.

It is a clear sign that the housing market slump is ongoing and this is supported by the fact that annual growth slumped from five per cent in March to just 1.3 per cent in April.

The biggest loss was recorded in the north-west, where prices fell by 1.4 per cent.

Even the usually reliable market of London suffered a loss of 0.9 per cent, while a loss was recorded in the south-east (-0.1 per cent).

The prospect of further price drops is likely to lead to a rise in the number of people seeking a fast property sale in order to make as much money from the sale of their properties as possible.

Fast property sale expert Julian King adds, "Potential buyers are simply afraid to enter the market.

"Property prices will continue to fall as the limited number of available buyers call the shots. Equally, homeowners looking for a quick sale are in schtuck as they are unable to achieve the deadlines required in their property chain".
