For example, instead of spray/aerosol air fresheners, the increased hygiene concerns amongst Filipino households have pointed in the direction of household antiseptics/disinfectants, and improved fragrances in laundry care may have also reduced the need for air care in many areas of the house. As a result, air care inched up by only 1% in volume terms and 6% in current value terms, returning Ps1.6 billion in retail sales by the end of 2013.

Competitive Landscape

In 2013, SC Johnson & Son Inc (Philippines) continued to be the top player in air care in the Philippines, accounting for almost 58% value share. This was largely contributed by its Glade brand, which held the leadership position in nearly all types of air care. Philusa Corp sat at second place, boosted mostly by its Albatross brand of other air care, and Procter & Gamble Philippines Inc claimed the third spot with its Ambi Pur brand.
