The Greater Nottingham Transport Partnership (GNTP) uses Esendex to provide a Freetext 80800 service in a bid to engage with the public and promote its future plans for transport in Greater Nottingham.
[ClickPress, Mon Apr 28 2008] GNTP is working on a project called The Big Wheel, which aims to encourage people to use public transport, walk and cycle and reduce the usage of cars. Part of the project is Stan’s Plan, a campaign that encourages people to think about the way they travel around Nottingham.
“We chose Esendex for its reputation as experts in its field and were confident the service could deliver and it has,” comments Kay Hardiman from GNTP. “The service is very simple and involves people texting STAN along with their name and address to receive a free copy of Stan’s Plan, which gives them an outline of future transport plans.
“Public response for the service has been high. It’s not easy to engage with the general public about transport but SMS is a highly efficient way of doing so and we will look to use SMS services in future campaigns,” concludes Hardiman.
