Temperatures and Entertainment are Heating Up along the Emerald Coast

Flowers are blooming and temperatures are hovering around 75 degrees in the beach town of Destin, Florida. The ideal weather combined with fewer crowds than the summer months create an atmosphere that’s ripe for enjoying an outdoor lifestyle.
The Destin harbor is a popular outdoor venue where spectacular views of the East Pass meet a promenade of shops and restaurants. March 7th will begin the festivities with the Tequila and Taco tasting at Crab Island Cantina. Local chefs will put their own spin on traditional tacos, guests can sample flavors like spiced habanero and smoky agave while live Latin music completes the fiesta. Sunday, the 15th will see the harbor transformed into an Irish street festival complete with Irish dancing and bag pipe performances. Plus, at 6PM the largest grog march this side of the Blarney Stone will begin with a different restaurant hosting the march each hour until 11 PM. The spirit of the Irish continues down at the west end of Destin at the Village of Baytowne Wharf on the 17th. Jubilant entertainment and Irish traditions will celebrate the luck of the Irish as the Village is decked in green. The last weekend in March will host Purses with a Purpose at Grand Boulevard Town Center. The sale and auction of new and gently used designer handbags will benefit Shelter House.
Continual spring events like ArtWalk on the Destin Harbor which runs every Sunday and Grand Boulevards Farmers’ Market which is open each Saturday provide an inside perspective of the local produce and art that Destin locals have to offer. Talented artisans, soap makers and jewelers add some local culture to the Harbor while cheesemakers, farmers and florists delight with the bounty of the Emerald Coast.
