Even though trends in apparel favour textiles and clothing which do not require ironing, this is still common in Greek households. The category saw volume and current value sales decline during the review period, affected by the ongoing economic recession and the fall in disposable incomes, yet the decline was rather moderate, and starting from 2013 sales showed stability, at least in volume terms.

Competitive Landscape

Philips was the best-selling brand in irons in 2014, accounting for a 19% share of overall sales of irons, followed by Izzy, marketed in Greece by Benroubi, claiming a 17% share. Philips Hellenique, which until 2012 led irons, lost the leading position to De’Longhi Kenwood Hellas, which after the acquisition of Stirella saw an increase in its share to reach 22% in 2013 and 23% in 2014.
