Tetley Canada is the leading player in tea, with a 31% share of retail value sales in 2014. The company remains the clear leader in black tea, with a 35% retail value share. Unilever Canada is ranked second with a 19% share of retail value sales. Tea continued to create opportunities for growth as green tea and fruit/herbal tea enjoyed greater demand. Tetley and Unilever are actively developing their product lines to expand their range and grow share in green tea and fruit/herbal tea. Both players are strong in staple tea types, which are mature, and they retain the ability to follow the direction of the market.
