Dishwashing sales in Slovenia are different among rural and urban populations. Hand dishwashing is more common in rural communities (less and less so every year though), whereas the urban population is increasingly using automatic dishwashing detergents. However, the adverse economic situation and consequential fall in consumer purchasing power has negatively affected overall dishwashing sales as consumers are favouring lower-priced products and those on discount.

Competitive Landscape

Dishwashing products continue to sell strongly in Slovenia, amidst the dominance of the three biggest manufacturers, which controlled 60% of value sales in 2014. The leading player is the multinational, Henkel, which managed to acquire a 35% value share of dishwashing in 2014. This is mainly on account of its well-known hand dishwashing brand, Pril. Runner-up was another international player, Reckitt Benckiser, with a dishwashing value share which stood at 13% at the end of 2014 on account of its automatic dishwashing brand, Finish. A similar value share (12%) was obtained in 2014 by third-placed Procter & Gamble which competes mainly with its Jar brand.
