New market study, "Singapore Tourism Report Q2 2015", has been published

The Singapore tourism report examines a range of key indicators in this well- established tourism market in the midst of the competitive Asia Pacific region, including the potential for growth in inbound and outbound travel and tourism- related expenditure. Although arrivals declined in 2014, we expect to see s teady growth from 2015 onwards. Along with government support, transport infrastructure investment and a welcoming foreign investment environment, this makes Singapore an attractive investment destination.

Singapore saw a decline in arrivals in 2014, the first since 2009. This was driven primarily by a fall in arrivals from key markets such as China (due to the implementation of a new tourism law that restricted package tour operators) and Indonesia and Malaysia due to a general decline in travel following several high-profile air travel disasters. While the number of visitors fell, the volume of spending per visitor did increase slightly, as did the average length of stay, which does indicate growth potential. We expect to see a return to growth in 2015, of around 12.3%, with total arrivals forecast to reach just under 17mn.

Outbound travel will continue to grow throughout the forecast period as private financial consumption increases and travel connections expand.

Singapore is well placed to keep up with the expected growth in tourism. Changi International Airport has once again been voted as the world's best airport by consumers, according to Skytrax, and the government continues to invest in expansion and modernisation. Singapore also has extensive road and rail connections to Malaysia as well as a wide range of sea...
