AmorePacific Corp led sun care with 33% value share followed by LG Household & Health Care Ltd with 20%. Among the top 10 brands in 2014, AmorePacific Corp and LG Household & Health Care each had four brands. Shiseido is the only international brand to be ranked in the top 10 brands in 2014. It is also the only brand to record declining value sales even though it concentrates its retailing mainly through department stores. The brand’s sun protection product is popular for its good quality with strong protection efficiency. However, Shiseido sun protection needs extra thorough care when washing out due to strong attachment to skin. Such a strong function is a merit for sun protection, but some consumers find it inconvenient. The brand recorded marginal negative growth due to this consumer opinion.
