From: Fast Market Research, Inc.
Published: Wed Sep 23 2015

The Singapore tourism report looks at a range of key indic ators for this popular and well- established tourist destination in the competitive Asia Pacific region. Singapore's status as a regional transit hub has allowed it to develop a strong tourism base and investment in a broader range of attractions is allowing it to tap into more lucrative longer - stay travel. As such , we expect to see steady growth in inbound travel throughout our forecast period, creating an attractive potential investment environment .

Although a small city state, Singapore offers a broad range of tourism attractions. As well as a vibrant restaurant and night life scene, Singapore also has large retail centres and a multitude of nature parks and reserves offering outdoor and adventure activities. The city state also has several beaches and theme parks catering to the family holiday market. In general Singapore is seen as a short-stay destination; however the country is keen to attract longer-stay visitors and is investing heavily in supporting tourism infrastructure.

We expect to see slow but steady growth in the tourism sector in 2015. Arrivals from the dominant Asia Pacific region are expected to recover well from a dip in 2014 caused by a change in tourism laws in China which led to a drop in arrivals from this regional powerhouse. Arrivals from Europe are expected to continue to struggle as weak economies of a number of key markets (such as Russia) hamper outbound travel. Singapore's much larger outbound travel market is expected to grow, though the weakness of Singapore's local currency may hamper growth.
