With strong legacy brands and new releases across most product categories, growth was led by Mattel, with 12% value share of traditional toys and games and Hasbro with 11% value share. While suffering from falling sales of its Barbie brand, Mattel’s ability to sustain growth in 2014 and its number one position was due in large part to high demand for Frozen and Disney Princess dolls and accessories in addition to a boost in sales for Hot Wheels model vehicles as UK pocket money toys rebounded.
