[ClickPress, Thu Dec 29 2005] In an effort to educate seniors and others in the community about Medicare Part D, South Shore Elder Services, a private, non-profit agency in Braintree that provides seniors and caregivers in the South Shore area with valuable resources and services, will offer several helpful seminars to explain the new government regulations. The agency will also provide special telephone assistance to individuals who are homebound or cannot otherwise make it to one of their seminars.

The Medicare Part D seminars will be held at South Shore Elder Services’ offices, located at 159 Bay State Drive in Braintree, on the following dates:

• Wednesday, January 4th, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
• Thursday, January 12th, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.
• Wednesday, January 18th, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
• Tuesday, January 24th, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
• Wednesday February 1st, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
• Thursday, February 9th, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.
• Thursday, February 16th, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

To register for a Medicare seminar, contact (781) 848-3910 or (781) 383-9790.

Individuals who are homebound or otherwise unable to attend a seminar can call South Shore Elder Services at (781) 848-3910 or (781) 383-9790 to request a worksheet to complete and return. Based on the worksheet, and by utilizing proprietary software from the National Council on Aging, South Shore Elder Services can then provide feedback on the least expensive plans that would cover an individual’s particular medications.

“The new regulations in Medicare prescription drug coverage are fairly difficult to decipher. Our seminars will explain coverage in a much more understandable manner,” said Ed Flynn, Executive Director of South Shore Elder Services.
