SelectSpecs will not apologise

SelectSpecs Ltd will not apologise despite considerable dialogue about allegedly ‘devaluing’ the vital role played by prescription glasses. The new video campaign highlights the true monetary value of prescription glasses and points out the absurdity of how overpriced they are on the high street. High street optical retailers have been charging inflated prices for prescription glasses in order to subsidise eye tests to maximise profits. In fact, SelectSpecs argues the competition has not been straight with people and confused the public about the real value of glasses.

People think nothing of getting their teeth checked as directed every 6 months, but avoid eye tests despite being only once every two years. This is because of the hyper-inflated cost of prescription glasses which acts as a barrier to people maintaining good eye health and safety which can ultimately result in injuries and fatality because of poor eyesight. SelectSpecs says eye tests are a valuable and vital service and that it is essential to have your eyes tested on a regular basis. Not only to check your eyes but also as an insight into your overall health.

Prescription glasses are not a luxury, they are not a Faberge egg, Ming Dynasty vase or iPhone they are a necessity. You should be able to treat them how you like and buy as many as you like, at an affordable price. A disposable razor can cost three times more than our prescription glasses. Glasses should be just as disposable and should be affordable enough to always have a spare pair.

Once you have your eyes tested don’t settle for the inflated prices on the high street, head to SelectSpecs to get a pair for every outfit for the same price.

Other online optical retailers, who have claimed to offer value prescription glasses, have given into the demands of spoon feeding investors and subsidising buyouts and shareholders, increasing profits at the expense of the consumer. Resulting in glasses that are even more expensive than the high street. SelectSpecs will not go down that route, we offer the world’s cheapest prescription glasses and believe we have a moral duty to do so for those who rely on them in the U.K. and worldwide in countries where the good value of our glasses means people can afford glasses whereas before they would go without.

The retail cost of prescription glasses is completely disproportionate to their value and cost to produce, SelectSpecs believes this is morally wrong and is leading the way to change this.

In reality overcharging so much for prescription glasses, as our competitors have done, is what truly devalues glasses. We will not devalue our products, we will not cut corners or rip off our customers. All our prescription glasses come with free scratch resistant and anti-glare coatings, including the great value £6 range. We will not provide our customers with an inadequate or incomplete product, unlike our competitors who charge significant additional fees for these coatings, often alone costing as much as several pairs from SelectSpecs.

Good consumerism is letting the consumer having the freedom to decide and being given the best possible price.
