Eque2 were approached by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and ITN Productions to be part of their ‘Remastering the Future’ series. The programme features key industry interviews and news-style reports, along with sponsored editorial profiles.

The part of the programme in which Eque2 features, introduced by National newsreader Natasha Kaplinsky, captures how construction companies are making use of modern technology to ensure projects are completed on time and budget, whilst allowing them to remain competitive and fully prepared for what the future holds in this fast-paced industry.

The programme shadows a day in the life of the team at SJE Carpentry & Joinery Ltd (SJE), and features their current project at Principle Place in London. The programme captures how SJE use Eque2’s EValuate estimating software alongside its contract management system, Construct for Sage. Members of the team in the office and on-site explain how the software is used across the entire project lifecycle to ensure their estimates are accurate, contracts are managed, deliveries are recorded and jobs are delivered on time and budget.

The programme also demonstrates how mobile technology is driving efficiencies within the industry. SJE benefit from greater transparency by utilising Eque2’s mobile capabilities via its Construct Mobile Delivery Notes software. The App allows workers on-site to record details and quantities of deliveries made on-site, which is then automatically fed back to the office and stored against what was originally ordered – crucially flagging under-deliveries or damaged items which can delay a project and lead to inaccurate invoices being paid.

David Halbert, Business Development Director at SJE explains that they chose Eque2 because construction is a very competitive market and they want to be "at the forefront of new technologies" to ensure they have a competitive advantage. He also said that he has confidence in the monthly figures the software produces which is vital.

Justin Moule, Managing Director, Commercial at Eque2 commented "We were delighted to be invited by CIOB and ITN Productions to take part in this programme and would like to thank the whole team at SJE Carpentry & Joinery for accommodating us for the day and explaining how they use our software. We’re always looking for innovative solutions to age old problems at Eque2. Our range of solutions contain a growing number of mobile apps and can also be installed in your office or accessed via a web browser – we call them Cloud or SaaS type products, but it effectively means you could be anywhere in the world and with a web browser you could log in and find out how your projects are performing".
